Yoandri is researcher at Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), focusing on sistematy and ecology of water beetles. Also is working on species distribution modeling. He obtained a PhD in Biology from the Universidad de La Habana, Cuba, working on systematics, ecology and conservation of diving beetles in Cuba. He also was a postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Zoologische Staatssammlung München, in Germany. Additionally, he held a position as a lecturer at the Universidad de Oriente in Cuba. His research involves the integration of various approaches and tools, encompassing field and laboratory work, taxonomy, biogegraphy analysis, and ecological modeling
