Yusdiel is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries, Berlin (IGB), focusing on species distribution modeling and spatial conservation planning in freshwater ecosystems. He obtained a PhD in Biology from the Universidad de La Habana, Cuba, working on systematics and conservation of damselflies in the Antilles. He also was a postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the IGB and the Technical University Braunschweig in Germany. Additionally, he held a position as a lecturer at the Universidad de Oriente in Cuba. His research involves the integration of various approaches and tools, encompassing field and laboratory work, phylogenetic analysis, geocomputation, and ecological modeling.
