I am a post-doc researcher at Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c) where I integrate the Island Biodiversity, Biogeography and Conservation research group (IBBC) - I am also member of the Portuguese entomological society (SPEN).

I have been involved in studies on insect biodiversity, macroecology and conservation in Madeira and mainland Portugal. Presently I coordinate a project on insect-plant interactions in island ecosystems (, participate as a team member in a project on terrestrial arthropod biodiversity in Macaronesia ( and coordinate a study on the biology and control of the invasive Argentine ant in Madeira (

My main interests are the study of insect-plant interactions, particularly pollination and seed dispersal, as well as the analysis of biodiversity patterns in island ecosystems. Furthermore, I am also interested on insect conservation and on the impacts and control of invasive species in oceanic islands.
