Habitat and Ecology

Anthophora purpuraria has been recorded at low altitudes (up to 400 m asl). There is no further information on the habitats of this species, although it can be assumed to occur on Mediterranean-type shrubland. It has been reported to forage on Echium species (Westrich 1993), Lannaea arborescens and Asteraceae and Boraginaceae species from December to February (Hohmann et al. 1993).
