This species is endemic to Santa Maria island so has a small extent of occurrence (97km2), however it is abundant and faces no major threats, therefore it is considered as Least Concern (LC).

Habitat and Ecology

Leptaxis sanctaemariae is commonly found in forested areas, preferring clumps of undergrowing Hedychium gardneranum, but also frequently found under dead leaves and loose stones.
