Assessment Rationale:

Xysticus madeirensis is endemic to Madeira Island, Portugal, and only known from its type locality. This species is assessed as Data Deficient (DD) due to the lack of knowledge on its distribution, ecology and possible threats. More research is needed in order to assess its extinction risk.

Geographic Range:

Xysticus madeirensis is only known from Fajã da Nogueira at the northeastern region of Madeira Island (Portugal) in laurisilva forest. A single female was recorded in November 1980. As this is an unusual season for most species it is possible the species was missed in recent collections due to its phenology. This species EOO and AOO are unknown.
