This species is endemic to the Azores Islands (Portugal), where the recent distribution is considered to be restricted to Faial (A.M. Frias Martin pers. comm. 2016). The distribution is uncertain and the threats are unknown, hence the species is considered Data Deficient (DD).
This species is endemic to the Azores Islands (Portugal), where the species is considered to be restricted to Faial Island (A.M. Frias Martins pers. comm. 2016). The Azorean atlas data from 2008 showed the species on Sao Jorge (two isolated locations), Faial, and Sao Miguel (a single location on the northern coast) (atlas data, A.M. Frias Martins pers. comm. 2018), but these are now considered to be other species.

The habitats described when the species was first collected suggest the species was found under stones and plants in grassland and forests.
