This species is considered endemic to the Azores Islands (Portugal), where the most recent survey data restrict the range to Sao Miguel (A.M. Frias Martins pers. comm. 2016). It is widespread on the island and is common where present (Frias Martins 2008 Atlas). There are no known threats to this species. The species is considered Least Concern (LC).
